And while I am happy to help in the Dominican Republic I have to admit I just don't feel the same calling to it. That too I can't explain.
For now I will have to satisfy myself with the notion that I will try to get back. And while PaP was a small amount improved over last year it is still full of need and a resilient population that can pull Haiti back to it's position as the "Pearl of the Caribbean".
Location:On the road to Santa Damingo
so what time did you actually get to la romana?! sounds like a very long day... we were stuck in the haitian airport until about 1:00pm then went to santo domingo where we had to go out of the airport, then back in, and through 3 different customs lines... then we got the plane and landed.
ReplyDeleteit feels very weird to not be in haiti. i especially feel weird not doing something when there are millions of people in need.
hope the week goes well and you all are resting today. love and miss you guys
David, please share..........my travel husband and I are safely home, tired and soul weary!!! I am sorry your day was so long.........Rest well and know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers this week. I will look forward to reading about your adventures!!! Blessings!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow I wish we had been able to all fly together! We met Kim, the leader of the HIV conference at the Villa - she was flying to JFK at 1:30. She said that flights from PaP have been delayed on each of her 4 visits there - but it still sounds better than what you endured. Worried about you - do provide more detail when you can.
ReplyDeleteWe finally arrived at La Romana at about 1:30. One of Jen's bags was missing when we arrives and we think it is gone for good. It had her clean clothes, so she had to quickly do laundry. We were going to send her to Jumbo for some $60 dollar ... oh, nevermind.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh you guys- i'm really sorry that happened!! I will be praying that the rest of the trip goes well and without problem!
ReplyDeletedavid i think this confirms that you are the curse on transportation, not ken... :)
